TV personality and local resident Sue Barker is stepping up security after receiving a spate of chilling death threats.
The BBC presenter has received a number of threatening letters telling her she will be stalked and murdered like her friend Jill Dando.
The letters were sent to the BBC before being innocently forwarded to the star's mansion.
Surrey Police is currently liaising with former Detective Chief Superintendent with Bedfordshire Police, Eddie Halling, who is heading the security operation for the BBC.
Measures will include upgrading the locks and installing a panic alarm at Miss Barker's home near Haslemere, and fitting extra CCTV cameras around the property, which is set in 32 acres.
The BBC is also providing a bodyguard and all her mail, telephone calls and e-mail are also being monitored.
Miss Barker 47, presents A Question Of Sport, Grandstand and Wimbledon tennis for the BBC and will soon be covering the London Marathon and the Grand National.
She started her career as a professional tennis player and was the British number one throughout much of the 1970s and early '80s, winning the French Open singles title in 1976.
The letters come five years after Crimewatch presenter Jill Dando was shot dead outside her west London home.
A Metropolitan police spokesman said: "An allegation of malicious correspondence has been reported and is still being investigated."
