ST Paul’s Church in Tongham has completed a near £10,000 refurbishment of the church and attached community hall thanks to recycling giants Suez.
The church in Poyle Road marked the 150th anniversary of its consecration in January, and since that date has been successful in a grant application to Suez (formerly the SITA trust) which awarded a mammoth £9,400 for the desired improvements.
As a result, St Paul’s has refurbished The Old School Hall, which was also built 150 years ago, as well as reflooring the North Room and redecorating the North Room, South Room and entrance porch.
The church held an opening event last Sunday to show off the improvements, and welcomed members of the congregation, parish councillor Patricia Hughes, and county councillor George Johnson.
All the guests were impressed by the workmanship of Edge Home Improvements and B&N Carpets.
And St Paul’s Church vicar Reverend Claire Holt said she that she was “delighted” by the results.
