ON Saturday, June 17, after an absence of several years, the Waverley Singers will give their summer concert in St Mary’s Church, Frensham - a pleasing programme is expected with works by Schubert, Bach, Pergolesi and Vaughan Williams.

There will be three soloists from the Royal Academy of Music, sponsored by the Josephine Baker Trust, a quintet from the Guildhall School of Music and Philip Scriven on the organ, conducted by Richard Pearce.

The concert will start at 7pm and there will be a retiring collection for Farnham ASSIST. Tickets, which cost £15 (£5 under 16s and students), can be purchased from Newbury Building Society in Alton, on 01252 792563, at www.waverleysingers.com or from the church itself.

And for their autumn event the Waverley Singers have decided to offer something unusual. A local performance by massed choirs of Handel’s great oratorio Messiah, with soloists and orchestra in Farnham Maltings on October 14.

This will be a ‘turn up and sing’ performance, the group will offer places to local choirs with the aim of creating an unforgettable community experience. Contact the group’s dedicated e-mail address [email protected], for enquiries and further information.

There will be a retiring collection for the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.
