MORE than 60 primary school-age children flocked to The Den Scout headquarters on Chawton Park Road, Alton, during the holidays to take part in The Butts Church ‘Superhero Training Academy’.

The four-day summer club taught the youngsters how to be “more than conquerors” as they learned about the meaning of the words to the Romans, spoken by apostle Paul, who asked: “If God is for us, who can be against us?”

They followed a mixed programme of activities each morning, including junk cardboard robot skateboard jousting (bit of a mouthful but surprisingly exciting), team games, a puppet show story, crafts, and an instalment from Peter’s ‘superhero’ training with Jesus.

Butts Church secretary Stephen Warwick said: “The overall theme was about Jesus being the ultimate superhero, and how Peter was trained as he followed him.”

And he added: “A lot of fun was had by all, including the families who joined in the picnic on Saturday.”

Mr Warwick expressed “a big thank you” to the attendees, to The Butts Church helpers and leaders, and to the 3rd Alton Scout Group for the use of The Den.
