THIS year’s Summer Reading Challenge has begun and there’s something fishy going on: the Animal Agents need your help to solve the mystery.
The challenge is to sign up at Alton library, read six books and catch the crook.
Milo Grant-Turton, 9, was the first to sign up for the challenge. His library card design won the eight -11 category in last year’s Summer Reading Challenge Library Card competition, run by Hampshire Libraries.
Milo attends Selborne C of E Primary School and would like to be an illustrator when he grows up. He said: “I couldn’t believe it when I won the design a library card competition. It’s really exciting signing up for the Summer Reading Challenge again this year.”
Milo is a regular visitor to Alton library and his love of reading is shared by his family. His mother, Aisla, remembers going to the library as a child and taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge.
The Summer Reading Challenge is a national scheme run every year by the Reading Agency and public libraries to encourage children to read through the summer holidays.
It’s fun, free and available to all children aged four to 11. Children who read six books and collect a special card for each book gain a medal and certificate upon completion. This year’s challenge runs until Saturday, September 16.
