DRIVERS have been warned to expect long delays as a summer rush of roadworks are about to spring up on some of the major routes into Farnham.

These include two major schemes in Wrecclesham and Station Hill, each project due to begin within the next week and spanning the month of August.

Water maintenance work is set to start on the A325 in Wrecclesham Hill on Monday, July 29, replacing an old and unreliable water main.

This work will mean the installation of temporary traffic lights, expected to last until August 30, with drivers warned to expect delays throughout the day.

Work around Station Hill and the Farnham bypass (A31) is also expected to see major disruption, because of closures from Union Road to The Fairfield in four separate maintenance projects.

Gas maintenance is to take place from Monday, July 29, from the A31 to Union Street with a northbound closure, while the same work is due to take place from the A31 to The Fairfield, prompting a closure on the other side of the bypass.

The Hickleys Corner junction will also see traffic light maintenance from the same date. This work should be completed by August 2.

Further gas works are already under way in Tilford Road, with road closures from the junction at Morley Road to Stoneyfields.

The delays follow two weeks of disruption in West Street because of temporary traffic lights, with queues often stretching as far as the Coxbridge roundabout.
