A SUMMER programme of activities for young people in Liss has been given a £500 cash injection by East Hampshire district councillors.

At a meeting of the central area community committee on Tuesday, members were told that the Hampshire County Youth Service was hoping to provide a variety of activities during August for around 100 13 to 19 year olds in Liss.

The aim, said worker in charge Claire Kirkby, was to provide a service for rural young people who may have problems getting to leisure activities based out of the village. "We have involved the young people themselves in putting together this programme," she said, "by outreach work and employing a survey to gauge needs and interests."

Liss parish council has also contributed but a shortfall of £500 was identified.
