WORK on a Hook development site is due to start this summer, one year after planning application was approved.

The Landata House site already had planning permission for 50 new homes, however, developers Taylor Wimpey are now seeking an alternative planning application for 78, one, two and three-bedroom apartments.

The brownfield site, located on Station Road was home to vacant office buildings, but after 12 months of planning, work will finally begin to take place over the coming months.

A Taylor Wimpey spokesperson said: “The principles (78 home plan) have been accepted by the parish council and local authority.

“We are now in the process of finalising our Section 106 contributions for the scheme, and hope to be starting works in late spring/early summer this year.”

The development may not be the only future building work in Hook, with a further 204 homes planned for construction on brownfield sites around the area by Hart District Council’s Local Plan, of which consultation is still taking place, but is being strongly resisted by local residents.
