THE sun was shining as youngsters took to the playing fields for sports day at Liss Junior School on Monday.
Among the sporting events were an obstacle course, the traditional egg-and-spoon race, and a sack race.
And after the finals of the sprint races, some well-earned refreshments were served up by members of the Hill Brow Road school's parent teacher association.
Children competed in colour-themed teams – and it certainly proved to be a red letter day for some of the youngsters, with the Red team taking the spoils.
