ALTON Art Society held its 89th annual exhibition at the Alton Assembly Rooms last month.

Exhibition secretary Kaye Garrett said: “Both the number of entries and sales were down a little on recent years. However we view it as a success because, in these difficult times, our members had the opportunity to show their work and visitors were able to enjoy the exhibition.”

The society welcomed more than 100 visitors on some days. The public vote winner was Ben Glover’s ‘Hermanus Sunset’, with Jenny Kennish’s ‘Old Boots’ and ‘Wrens Roosting’ second and third. Robina Williamson’s ‘Breaking Wave’ was one vote behind in fourth.
