BABY super heroes raced to the rescue in a three-day event at Baby Sensory Barn, in Grayshott, which raised £568 for Great Ormond Street Hospital and The Brittle Bone Society.
More than 30 babies enjoyed the “Super Heroes” mission to save the sun from evil “Saby Bensory” and, in doing so, help former classmate Sam Russell, who has been diagnosed with osteogenesis imperfecta.
Sam and his family attended baby sensory classes some years ago and have kept a strong connection with Baby Sensory Barn owner Angela Kennedy.
Kim, Sam’s mum, told The Herald: “Sam has a mutation in his genes (COL1A1) meaning he doesn’t produce enough collagen, making his bones softer than ours.
“The result is they are prone to break easily which gives him hyper-mobility, causing a lot of pain and a 60 per cent chance that he will lose his hearing.
“We are thrilled the Superheroes event was so popular and the money raised will be donated to two wonderful charities who have been supporting us.”
Angela added: “I found it incredibly touching watching the super hero babies mesmerised and captivated by the activities.
“It was very special for parents sharing these moments knowing ‘their mission to save the sun’ would be supporting two important charities in Sam’s life.”
