THREE thieves escaped with around £2,000 and 116 National Lottery scratch cards in an armed robbery in Liphook on Saturday night.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the robbery, which happened at around 10-15 pm at the Co-op on Headley Road.

The robbery took place after the store's 19-year-old supervisor was approached while walking home along Tower Road, by three men, one of whom is thought to have been carrying a stun gun.

Police believe that the men then "frog-marched" the supervisor back to the store before taking 116 scratch cards, around £2,000 in cash, which was contained in two blue plastic zip-up bags, and £52 in a red cash box.

The thieves tied the supervisor's ankles and wrists together before escaping on foot.

The man, who is believed to have been carrying the stun gun, is described as being between 5' 6" and 5' 8", in his early 20s with dark hair, of medium build and wearing a grey baseball cap with a red and white scarf across his face.

The second thief is described as being between 5' 6" and 5' 8", in his early 20s with fair hair, medium build and wearing a coloured baseball cap also with a red and white scarf across his face.

The men may also have been carrying a rucksack.

The supervisor was not injured in the robbery and managed to free himself to contact the police.

Anyone who has any information about the crime should contact Sergeant Simon Casey at Alton CID on 0845 045 45 45.
