ALTON’S 25th traditional Burns Supper, popular among English as well as Scottish Altonians, will be held in aid of Bushy Leaze Children’s and Families Centre at Eggar’s School Hall on Saturday, January 27.
Joining the worldwide annual celebration of Scotland’s great romantic poet Robert Burns, the Alton supper’s all-Scottish menu features haggis and non-haggis options.
Chef Jill Worth, a former Bushy Leaze parent and long-term friend of the nursery, is also introducing a seasonal fruit treat from ‘Burns Country’ in the south-east of Scotland.
Opening to the skirl of the pipes, the evening includes the famous ‘Address tae the Haggis’ and traditional toast to the Bard’s immortal memory, followed by live musical entertainment.
The Scottish country dances to a live band are demonstrated before the music starts, so no previous knowledge is needed.
Tickets, priced £32.50 (under-21s £20) for the supper dance with a difference, are available from [email protected], or by calling 01420 82630.
