ALMOST 80 Surrey and Sussex police officers observed fast in solidarity with Muslims at the Mubarak Mosque in Tilford on Friday, April 22.

It came as part of the Ahmadiyya Muslims Association’s The Big Iftar initiative and the police forces’ own Fasting Collective.

The Big Iftar is a community initiative that encourages places of worship and community centres to host an Iftar during Ramadan.

Iftar is the evening meal with which Muslims end their daily Ramadan fast at sunset. They break their fast at the time of the call to prayer (adhan) for the evening prayer.
