PETERSFIELD was at the heart of a bomb scare on Sunday morning – when a suspect package was found in Rams Walk.

Police were called at around 8.20am and cordoned off the popular shopping precinct before calling in the bomb disposal unit.

But it turned out to be a false alarm as investigators realised it was a parcel intended as a gift for a member of staff at Waitrose supermarket which hadn't been labelled.
