ONE year on, Bramshott and Liphook parish councillors are expected to reveal the outcome of their internal and independent investigations, following the suspension of clerk Tony Groves.

He was asked to vacate the council offices in the Haskell Centre on September 13 last year.

As The Herald went to press this week, a disciplinary hearing had been set for Mr Groves to attend on Thursday, September 13, precisely one year after he was suspended.

Councillor Don Jerrard, who chairs the parish finance and policy committee which suspended the clerk, issued a statement on the latest development in the long-running saga.

He said: "This council notes the report of the independent investigator into allegations against the clerk and resolves to appoint a disciplinary officer recommended by the council's solicitors to conduct a disciplinary hearing"

Mr Jerrard added: "This council resolves to request Hampshire Constabulary carry out an investigation of matters which have been brought to light in the reports of the accounts and annual return working party, or of the independent investigator."

The decision to suspend Mr Groves on full pay was taken during an exempt session of the finance and policy committee 24 hours before he was informed of his fate – the second time he has been suspended by the parish.

The meeting was chaired by Dawn Hoskins and attended by Don Jerrard, Rob Evans, Eve Hope and Jacqui Poole, who all went to the parish council office the next morning to deliver their decision to Mr Groves.
