AN intrepid Farnham woman who has tackled Antarctic and Arctic expeditions as well as swimming the Channel in spite of her type one diabetes has completed her latest challenge - tying the knot.

Katrina Scott and David Bird were married at Farnham Baptist Church on Saturday, September 24. The happy couple both grew up in Farnham and are true teenage sweethearts having met at the church’s youth club.

Katrina was diagnosed with type one diabetes at the age of just four, and has raised many thousands of pounds for Diabetes UK through undertaking various brave challenges.

These include trekking to the Antarctic when she was 15 and to the Arctic aged 17, followed by a gruelling 17 hour swim of the English Channel in 2014, aged 26.
