THE weather didn't help, but the opening day at Petersfield's open-air swimming pool was hardly a damp squib.
The perceived jewel in the crown of Petersfield was officially re-opened for the new season last Saturday by former mayor Nicky Edwards.
Dozens of swimmers tested the water at the new-look pool, which celebrates its 50th year in business on May 12.
Roofing has been placed over the ladies' changing room while new tiling has been installed around the pool edge.
Organisers are hoping for a long, hot summer to boost the pool's chances of staying open for another 50 years.
