SCOUTS from 11th Farnham, 1st Haslemere and 1st Camelsdale joined over 500 other young people from across Surrey for a summer adventure.

The Scouts attended Surrey’s Kix, challenging themselves to take part activities over a week at Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland.

This is the fourth trip to Kandersteg in the last 17 years and provides the opportunity for Scouts to take part in adventurous activities such as hiking in the mountains, rafting, high ropes as well as exploring the local area.

This expedition was the largest contingent of Scouts from the UK visiting overseas this year

Expedition leader Ian MacQueen said “KIX 2018 took two years to plan with and aim to give 500 Scouts and leaders the opportunity to try new activities, make new friends and learn skills for life.

I think it is safe to say we achieved our aim and more. My thanks to the staff and leaders who made the event a success. We will now start to plan KIX 202”

Sam, a Scout aged 12, from Farnham said: “The best bit of the week was the Ice Palace at the Jungfrau because it was really fun sliding on the floor and the ice sculptures were really impressive.”

Indigo, another Scout aged 12, from Farnham said: “I liked the swimming at the local pool because it gave me time to relax after all the other activities.”

And Theo, a Scout aged 11, from the Haslemere district said: “I really enjoyed the rafting because you got to swim beside the rafts and jump off them.”

While Jonti, another Scout aged 14 from the Haslemere district said: “I liked the pool at Brigerbad was the best as it gave me a chance to relax after the walking in the mountains.”
