PHYLLIS Tuckwell Hospice is searching for adrenaline junkies to come and take part in its new challenge – participants will board a plane which will climb to 12,000 feet, and then battle their natural instincts and fling themselves out through the open door.

These skydive days raise money for hospice care charity Phyllis Tuckwell, which provides support and end-of-life care for more than 250 patients and relatives every day.

Jumpers will be strapped to one of the Army Parachute Association’s experienced tandem instructors, and skydiving in the UK’s largest drop zone, the Airfield Camp in Netheravon, Wiltshire, where Phyllis Tuckwell has been holding organised skydive days for more than 10 years.

Before the jump participants will undergo all the necessary training, as well as meeting the instructor and the other adrenaline-seekers who will also be skydiving that day.

The free-fall speeds will top 120 miles per hour, and the fall is approximately 7,000 feet before the instructor deploys the parachute canopy at 5,000 feet as jumpers begin the five-minute gentle descent to the designated landing zone.

There are three skydives taking place on Saturday, March 19, Saturday, June 4, and Sunday, September 25.

Registration is £50 and participants need to raise a minimum of £450 in sponsorship.
