WAVERLEY Borough Council is inviting residents to step up for a Sport Relief challenge at Farncombe’s Broadwater Park, later this month.
This year’s challenge is for the nation to beat one billion steps a day, every day, from March 17 until March 23. In partnership with Places for People, the council is offering a choice of 1km, 3km and 6km runs, optional fitness challenges, training sessions, music, face-painting, a raffle and a photo booth to capture sporting memories.
Waverley portfolio holder for health, wellbeing and culture, said: “Our 2016 Sport Relief event raised a whopping £10,101.54, with 360 people taking part.
"This year we hope to smash that and help raise money for vulnerable people in the UK and the world’s poorest countries.
Online registration is now open at www.waverley.gov.uk/sport relief with limited spaces available. Downloaded the Sport Relief app and search for ’Step up Waverley’.
Entry is £5 for adults and £2.50 for children under 16. All funds raised will go to Sport Relief.
