THERE are two events in Haslemere Educational Museum’s Troy: Beauty and Heroism series this month.
On February 24 there is a free talk, entitled Helen and Achilles: beauty and heroism in the enduring story of the Trojan War, from 2-4pm.
It will be presented by Vicky Donnellan, catalogue manager at the British Museum who was seconded as project curator for the BP-sponsored exhibition Troy: Myth and Reality.
Beautiful Helen and heroic Achilles are central characters in the Trojan War story. This talk explores how they have been represented in art and literature from ancient Greece to the present day.
On February 23, from 2.30-4.30pm and 7-9pm, artist Diana Burch will lead a creative and well-being workshop entitled A Trojan Horse. Participants will make horse figures from wire and tissue papier mache to take home. Tickets cost £10 for members and £15 for non-members.
