THIS year’s 10th Farnham Food and Drink Festival will take place tomorrow (Sunday), enabling more of the town and visitors to enjoy the day.

The festival takes place from 10am to 4pm in the town centre. For the first time, it will extend from Castle Street into The Borough, giving space for even more stalls and more leisurely browsing.

Jill Hargreaves, Farnham Town Council’s (FTC) lead member for tourism and events, said: “Farnham Food Festival has grown in popularity over the years and attracts thousands of locals and visitors.

“By holding it on a Sunday this year, we hope people who work Saturdays or find the day taken up with chores will be able to join in and enjoy the choice of food and drink stalls, cookery demonstrations, live music and activities.”

She added: “We also welcome our principal sponsors Wiltshire and Sons to the festival. As a family business that has been trading in Farnham for over 40 years, they epitomise what’s great about the Farnham business community. Do come and say hello to your local authorised Mitsubishi dealer at their stand.”

The town council has also organised for a complimentary shuttle bus service to run from 10am to 4.30pm. A bus will depart on the hour and half past the hour from Hale Institute calling at Tesco Express at Upper Hale and Farnham Park. The second bus will pick up passengers from Weydon School on the hour and half past the hour, and will stop at the railway station and the bus stop at The Chantrys/West Street Cemetery.

Shoppers who prefer to travel by car can park for free on Sundays in Waverley’s pay and display car parks.

Food and drink inspired by the traditions of virtually every continent can be found among the list of this year’s stallholders which reads like a gastronomic A to Z. Expert chefs, food producers and drinks makers will also be sharing their tips at live demonstrations and talks.
