BELLS Piece Leonard Cheshire Disability service in Farnham welcomed Riverford Organic Farms and guests from the local community for a cookery demonstration and lunch.
Students of the Hale Road service's healthy eating and life skills project hosted the event and helped prepare a meal with cordon bleu-trained chef Sancha Starkey in the service's new training kitchen.
The kitchen, backed by the Big Lottery Fund and Howdens Joinery, is designed specifically for use by adults with both learning and physical disabilities.
Over the past 12 months it has taught up to 100 disabled adults and support workers the joys of eating healthy food as well as the skills needed to work in a professional kitchen.
It is now hoped some students will now be able to find work experience placements in kitchens, restaurants and cafes in the community, having gained qualifications in food safety.
