At 11-30 pm on Friday March 14, a Three Counties taxi collected four men aged between 22 and 30, close to The Inn on the Green in Lion Lane, Haslemere.
The driver took them to Old Glebe in Fernhurst. The four men got out of the car and one of them demanded money from the driver whilst brandishing what is believed to be a knife.
This male is described as white, 25 years old, six feet tall, slim to medium build with short dark hair and clean shaven. He was wearing white trousers and a padded white jacket.
The driver managed to get away from the car, but the four men got in and drove off. The taxi - a Vauxhall Omega registration S322 DRP - was later found abandoned and burnt out in Vann Road.
The driver was clearly very shaken by the incident and police are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them as soon as possible.
