HOME-Start in Waverley held a vintage morning tea social gathering to thank their volunteers for all their hard work supporting families in Waverley.

Due to the wet weather the get together was held in the Culver Suite at Farnham library and was attended by volunteers, both home-visiting and trustees and the charity’s patron Lady Tindle.

They all enjoyed an assortment of cakes baked by the scheme’s staff and a selection of teas and fresh coffee.

The event was also an opportunity to welcome new scheme manager Amanda Simpson who said she was delighted to be joining such a wonderful and worthwhile organisation. “We hope to make this and the volunteer Christmas lunch regular events on our calendar.

“Our volunteers do so much for us, giving their time for free and this was a way of showing our appreciation.”

Home-Start in Waverley currently supports families across the whole of the borough and is currently recruiting to fill its next volunteer preparation course which is due to start in September and will run in Godalming for nine weeks.

Once trained, volunteers will use their own parenting experience to provide a few hours a week of home visiting support to families who have at least one child under five years old, and are finding being a parent a struggle.
