THE Links Tavern held a ‘Blooming Great Tea Party’ in aid of the Marie Curie charity, raising £135 from cake sales alone.

The party was organised by Rachel Maunder and members of the Athena Network Liphook Group and hosted by Vicky Midgley, manager of the pub on Portsmouth Road, Liphook.

Wendy Savage, Marie Curie’s community fundraiser for East Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, said: “The cakes were donated by all the ladies who attend Athena, by local supermarkets, and the fabulous chef at The Links Tavern made a delicious chocolate fudge cake for us all.

“Marie Curie provides palliative care in the community to patients and their families. Every £20 we raise pays for another hour of this valuable care and this amount will enable another family to have our care at a very difficult time.

"We are very grateful for the kind support by Athena Network Liphook Group and Vicky and everyone at The Links for making this happen.”
