ALTON Town Council will next week host a ‘Tea Party in the Park’ to celebrated the Queen’s official state 90th birthday.
At the same time, the park will be open to folk wanting to bring their own picnics while enjoying live entertainment courtesy of acts such as Holybourne Singers Young Voices (youth choir) performing 1920s-style Jazz and Alton Community Choir with 1950s and 1960s rock ‘n’ roll.
There will be homemade cakes for sale courtesy of Alton WI, while Holybourne WI will be running a children’s cup cake decorating stall. Alton Community Association will be there with a Pimm’s tent and there will be stalls and traditional lawn games.
Alton churches will be combining with the Alton Salvation Army band for a short service to honour the Queen at the end of the event.
Anyone who would like to nominate an Alton resident who is aged 90 or over to join the VIP tea party should contact Emily-Jane Messenger, the town council’s community and events officer, on 01420 83986 or e-mail her at [email protected].
