Overall the team came fourth out of 11 and secured Waverley’s highest points score since 2006.
Almost 30 Waverley teams took part in 15 different sports. As well as one gold medal, Team Waverley also took home five silver medals and three bronze medals – Waverley’s largest medal haul in the past 10 years. Team Waverley’s grand total score for the day was 84 points.
Among the medals was Waverley’s boxing team, led by Farnham Boxing Club coach Rikke Askew, taking home a silver and a bronze.
The team’s gold medal was for the junior table tennis, while silver medals were also won in junior girls football, senior boys judo, netball and swimming, adding to two further bronze medals in non-junior netball and girls rugby.
A total of 191 young people represented Waverley and were able to take part in nine free training sessions run by qualified coaches before competing against the other 10 Surrey boroughs at the games.
