WHITEHILL Police are appealing for witnesses following a spate of criminal damage to vehicles across East Hampshire. A 16-year-old girl from Bordon has been arrested and bailed following further investigations in connection with the incident. During the early hours of Saturday, December 29, and Sunday, December 30, a total of 18 vehicles were damaged in Lindford, Liphook Haslemere, Fernhurst and Linchmere. The offenders stole several batteries from the road cone lights at the roadworks on the A3 and used them to attack parked, unattended vehicles. The group towed wheelie bins, kicked off car wing mirrors and smashed car windscreens and windows. On one occasion, a battery was thrown through the front door of a porch at an address in Hollycoombe Close, Liphook. Officers believe the people responsible for the damage were travelling around in a small dark hatchback without any lights on. Pc Al Read, from Whitehill Police Station, said: "These offences were committed during the early hours of a Saturday and Sunday morning, and it's believed further offences were committed across the border in Sussex. "Anyone with any information about who may be responsible is urged to contact police." Anyone with any information should contact Pc Read at Whitehill Police Station on 0845 0454545 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
