DELAYS in processing housing benefit claims are resulting in people being issued with costly court summonses, which in turn is putting pressure on Alton's Citizens Advice Bureau.
Speaking to the Herald this week, CAB manager Teresa Jamieson confirmed that Alton volunteer advisors had seen "a huge increase" in work load. And she urges anyone in trouble to seek advice as soon as possible to avoid the issue coming to court.
