SPORTS enthusiasts can perfect their serve in stylish surroundings after Churt Tennis Club unveiled its new pavilion. The new facility at Churt Recreation Ground was opened by Olivia Cotton, whose late husband, Peter, laid the foundation stone for the old pavilion 30 years ago. It has been funded entirely by the thriving club, which has nearly 300 members on its books including many juniors. Club chairman Pam Martin said: "The old pavilion lasted incredibly well for 29 years, but it was slowly disintegrating and had to be replaced. "The new building is made of cedar wood and enables us to make teas and coffees for club events. Our courts were also resurfaced last year and everyone is welcome to use our facilities." One of the new pavilion's first duties will be to host former Davis Cup player Danny Sapsford's Tennis Circus for players of all ages on May 10.
