THE race for supermarket supremacy took on a new twist as Tesco came back with a third application for a food store on the Mill Lane trading estate.

Both Waitrose and Morrisons have reiterated their determination to pursue the redevelopment of the Station Road site as an alternative to the Tesco proposal for Mill Lane.
