POLICE have admitted a speed camera was wrongly set to below 40mph on the A286 at Fernhurst.

The camera was incorrectly set to be triggered below the speed limit from August 12-16. Motorist wrongly caught on camera won’t have penalty notices or fines issued.

Camera enforcement officer Chris Snell said: “The speed camera was removed from its casing on Friday, August 12.

“It was replaced, but the speed threshold was set too low. This was corrected on Tuesday, August 16.

“During this time period, any motorists who were flashed by the camera while driving under the 40mph speed limit will not receive a fine or fixed penalty notice.”
