WHITEHILL Police are confident they will catch the two culprits who mugged a woman in broad daylight last week. The attack took place at around 3 pm on April 24, in the Forest Shopping Centre. The woman, who is in her early 40s, was left severely shaken after she bravely tried to fend off her attackers before they over-powered her and made off with her black leather handbag. Police who attended the scene within moments of the robbery managed to recover the majority of the stolen property which has now been sent away for forensic testing. "We recovered all of the property including the car keys, within minutes of it occurring. The only thing outstanding was money to the value of £200 to £300 which she had in an envelope. "We believe the offenders left their jackets in the area and they are now being tested for DNA," Sgt Rick Davidson explained. Although Whitehill Police has got a strong body of evidence that could lead to the muggers being caught at some stage, officers are still appealing to members of the public for any further information regarding the crime. The main offender is described as a white man aged between 18 and 25 years, with a very short crew cut, dark hair and around 5 ft 9 ins tall. He was wearing a grey puffa jacket or anorak with three stripes on it. He was accompanied by a younger and smaller boy of around 10, with blond/red hair and a black shiny jacket. The pair were last spotted running off in the direction of Bordon Library. "I guess that they tried to dump the goods because they may have been caught on CCTV," Sgt Davidson said. Anyone with any information should call Whitehill Police on 0845 0454545.
