WITH?pulses likely to be racing because of the excitement of next weekend’s Petersfield Spring Fair, help will be at hand in the form of free blood pressure checks.

The Stroke Association has teamed up with event organisers to offer the free checks at next Sunday’s revels, which run from 10am-3.30pm in the town centre.

It coincides with Make May Purple, the Stroke Association’s national stroke awareness month.

Across the UK, more than a million people are rebuilding their lives after stroke. By supporting Make May Purple, people can help the charity make sure stroke gets the attention it deserves and to raise vital funds for innovative research into stroke care and treatment.

Mandy Souter, a six-month review co-ordinator at The Stroke Association, said: “High blood pressure is often referred to as the silent killer because it doesn’t present any symptoms and many people have no idea their health may be at risk. A simple and painless test could prevent a devastating stroke.

“Getting your blood pressure checked is easy and quick. We hope to see many people from Petersfield at our stand. It’s a simple way to reducing your risk of having a stroke.”
