THE sky above School Road in Bordon was awash with colour last Friday, as pupils from Bordon Infants and Junior School released balloons. In a celebration of half term, the Friends of Bordon School (FOBS) gathered together to join children and staff for the special occasion. Deputy head Jon Reilly said: "It was a wonderful event, and it was fantastic to see the joy in the faces of the pupils and parents as they released their balloons into the bright sky. "It was a windy day, so the balloons got off to a brilliant start." The event also raised valuable funds for the schools. Bordon Infants are currently raising money to take every pupil to Marwell Zoo, and Bordon Juniors are saving to buy technology equipment, including digital cameras. Mr Reilly added: "We are very grateful to all of the people that help us to raise money. Without the support of FOBS we would not be able to function properly." All of the balloons were marked with a number that corresponds to the pupil that set it free. The balloon that travels furthest will earn a prize for the owner.
