THE proposed demolition of the Redgrave Theatre has suffered a setback after English Heritage added its name to those objecting to the building's demise.
Developer Crest Nicholson has applied for Listed Building Consent to demolish the derelict theatre in East Street and convert the attached Grade II listed Brightwell House into two restaurant units as part of Waverley Borough Council's Brightwells redevelopment.
However, English Heritage has criticised Crest's plans, and in particular a large glass extension which the developer proposes building in place of the Redgrave.
