POLICE have charged three people after a series of distraction burglaries, including one in Petersfield. A string of offences took place over two days in March at various Hampshire addresses. The men targeted Cranford Road in Petersfield on March 13, along with addresses at Basingstoke, Selborne, Waterlooville and Basingstoke. There were further strikes at Chilworth, Eastleigh, Littleton and Old Basing on March 20. Two youths from Middlesex aged 16 and 17 were charged alongside Jerry Cassidy, 29, of Greenway in Pinner, Middlesex. They are charged with conspiracy to burgle and will appear before Winchester Crown Court on May 9. n A man has been arrested following a fatal car crash at Linchmere which left two people dead and three hurt. The couple who died were named as Andrew Snook, 40, and his wife, Trudi, 37, both of Hammer Hill, Haslemere. Mrs Snook was six-and-a-half months pregnant when she died. They were travelling in a blue Renault Megane which was in collision with a green BMW convertible on April 19. Three people in the BMW were injured and the driver, a 32-year-old man from Liphook, was later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was bailed and will appear in court on June 7. n A woman who was seriously hurt in a car accident in March has died. Police said Christina Mary Anne Cornwell, 20, died on April 26 – a month after the accident on Petersfield's Harrier Way. Christina, of Paddock Way, Petersfield, was a passenger in a red Renault Clio that was involved in the single-car incident at around 1.17am on March 27. Two 20-year-old men from Petersfield were arrested in connection with the incident and have been bailed until Sunday, June 22.
