ALTON Golf Club's plans to create additional income received another setback when East Hampshire District Council's north planning committee gave the thumbs down to an outline application for 18 holiday chalets in woodland flanking the course on the Old Odiham Road.
This, the third application for a project, designed to support the historic nine-hole course, follows applications last year for 31 and 27 chalets – both of which were turned down on grounds of overdevelopment and because they would represent a major intrusion of development in a rural area.
