AN £800,000 project to improve the Bordon Inclosure was given the thumbs up, according to the organisers of a visit to the green space.
The woodland is north of the Deadwater Valley Nature Reserve and runs from Lindford Road to Alexandra Park, behind Trenchard Park and St Lucia Park.
The Inclosure is now leased to Whitehill Town Council and managed by the Deadwater Valley Trust .
Improvements to the Suitable Alternative Greenspace (SANG) have been funded by Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes as part of the Whitehill and Bordon Regeneration Project. The SANG will provide recreational space for the residents who will move to the new homes at the Quebec and Louisburg barrack developments.
The town council and Deadwater Valley Trust organised a “taster session” for people to have a look at the work done so far and to see a new welcome leaflet, designed to advertise the Bordon Inclosure and the adjacent Deadwater Valley Local Nature Reserve.
“The response from visitors on the day was tremendous,” said Barratt community liaison manager Anthony Dimmick.
“The work here is a great example of how developers are really contributing to the local community with valuable new homes and fantastic community facilities.”
