WHITEHILL and Bordon are set to get a new bus service which will run to Petersfield. AMK mini coaches of Liphook are willing to pilot a scheme which see a bus service running from Bordon to Petersfield once a week. The company offered to run this particular service either on Monday or Thursday. At Monday's Whitehill Town Council meeting, it was decided that Thursday would be more preferable. The buses would run from Kildare Road, Bordon to Petersfield Railway Station via Whitehill, Blackmoor, Greatham, Liss and Hill Brow. The service would run between 9-45 am, and 1-32 pm. The council were worried that there was no time given to consult with the public and gauge how suitable a Thursday service would be. Unfortunately Monday and Thursday were the only days available to choose from, and no other company was willing to provide a similar service. "We need to get as many people to use it as possible, so that they not have an excuse to take the service away from us," said Zoya Faddy. Councillors were also concerned that the proposed timetable would not leave people with much time if they were to visits friends or relatives, but with no alternative, it was a take it or leave it situation. "Nothing exists at present so either we go with it or we will have to go back to the drawing board," explained Adam Carew. "This has been going on for far too long now. This service should have been up and running in May. We need to have something," A final decision for the day of the week the pilot service will run and a start date for the project will not be made until other parish and town councils affected by the bus route have been consulted and an agreement reached.
