TODDLERS from Beech were among those from around the Alton and Basingstoke area who raised their jazz hands last month to raise money for Tommy’s - a charity that funds research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth, and provides pregnancy health information for parents-to-be.

The children, from Alton Baby Sensory and Toddler Sense, who meet at Beech Village Hall under the leadership of Claire Fernandez dressed up in glitzy costumes to take part in a Showtime ‘Sensathon’, being sponsored to complete a set of Showtime challenges.

The aim was to help raise £500,000 from Baby Sensory and Toddler Sense classes across the country.

The money raised will help fund Tommy’s four research centres. One in four UK parents loses a baby during pregnancy or birth and 60,000 babies are born prematurely each year.

Jane Brewin, chief executive of Tommy’s, said: “Sensathon is a great way for mums and dads to involve their little ones in a good cause.

“Tommy’s relies on the generosity and hard work of its supporters like Baby Sensory and Toddler Sense to continue its pioneering research to prevent pregnancy complications. We hope everyone taking part had an absolutely amazing time.”
