A PROPOSED toll-free tunnel to relieve the A3 bottleneck at Hindhead has been broadly welcomed.

A firm of consultants was appointed to carry out a feasibility study on the effects of charging drivers to use a toll tunnel and the resulting report recommends that the government should consider including plans for a tunnel which they consider "would be good overall value for money, without tolls".
