LUDSHOTT Photographic Club held its final competition for projected images of the 2015-16 season.

It was presided over by Tony Baverstock, an accredited judge of both the Surrey Photographic Association and Southern Counties Photographic Federation.

More than 70 images were entered in three classes, for beginners, intermediate and advanced photographers and, as usual, the judge awarded marks for each image, with the best on the evening scoring 10.

In the beginners’ class, maximum scores were awarded for Tower of Pisa – after the style of Diego Kuffer by junior member Emily Randolph. A lovely evening seascape entitled Worthing Pier gained Sheila Orford the top score, as did Blue Lizard by Veronica Shepherd.

In this class mention must be made of Jack Crook, another junior member, who just missed out on the top mark, but managed very creditable scores of 9.5 and nine for Funny Bunny and The Bumpy Ride.

There was only one maximum score in the intermediate class, which was awarded to Ken Lindup for Majorelle Blue in Marrakesh.

The judge was more generous In the advanced class, awarding maximum scores to three authors. Kathleen Bird scored a 10 for West Highland Hills, a beautiful landscape which captures the essence of the Scottish peaks. It was matched by Emergency Landing for a Globe Skimmer Dragonfly by Gordon Rae, which demonstrated great camera control to achieve an incredible sharp image of such a difficult macro subject.

John Wichall brought up the rear with a maximum score for his image of a hunting short-eared owl.

The club draws its members from Liphook, Grayshott, Headley, Bordon, Haslemere and the surrounding area, and welcomes new members. For more details, visit ludshottpc.org.uk.
