AS capping of Waverley grants look set to be part of hard-pressed Waverley's financial restraints this year, the Haslemere Citizens' Advice Bureau is among organisations being forced to look elsewhere for more funding.

Already the local branch has had to close its doors on Wednesdays since the beginning of February.

"The decision to reduce opening hours was influenced by indications from Haslemere town councillors that there would be little support for a revenue grant to the CAB," said branch manager Jackie Gaskell.

Last week Mrs Gaskell said that the Haslemere CAB was hoping for a capital grant from Haslemere Town Council because of town council rules which preclude it from making revenue grants, despite support for them from both Farnham and Godalming town councils.

"The capping of the Waverley grant for the next year is now adding to our worries and will have a significant impact on us. We shall be reviewing our budget and service levels over the next few weeks," said Mrs Gaskell.
