AS organisers put the finishing touches to this Bank Holiday's Haslemere Charter Fair, the biggest free event for miles is set to attract some 10,000 people to the town.
Officially opened at 1-30 pm, the huge programme of family fun and entertainment has been organised to help make this fair one of the best yet.
"Once again Haslemere has risen to the challenge and planned a really great day out. There are no entrance charges to pay so bring the whole family and come and help celebrate the Charter Fair," said chairman of the committee Paul Avery.
"There is something for everyone in all of the entertainment; a good mix of some traditional favourites and lots of new things too," he added.
The High Street, West Street and the main car park will be transformed into a huge traffic -free zone with the town centre full of stalls, exhibitions, games and puppet shows and among the street entertainers jugglers, stilt walkers, fire eaters and clowns.
Haslemere Town Band, Morris dancers and Punch and Judy shows also make their popular and traditional return to the show.
Cars will be banished from the town's centre car park to make way for a huge funfair, with the most popular rides from the town's millennium fair plus new challenges such as a rodeo bull machine, bungee racing and pole jousting.
Model Railway exhibitions and demonstrations are also on the agenda as are "Buskers Express", which will be performing in the small car park.
There will be plenty to eat and drink with afternoon tea and other refreshments provided by local organisations and charities.
The programme of events kicks off at 1-30 pm, followed by the fancy dress competition with a theme of Kings and Queen's of England on the Town Hall stage for youngsters aged between five and nine at 2-30 pm.
There is continuous entertainment throughout the afternoon.
The High Street from the town hall to the junction of Three Gates Lane and Church Lane, West Street and the main car park will be closed to all traffic from 8 am under 8 pm on the day.
A free shuttle bus service will run between car parks in Lion Green and Wey Hill and West Street and local diversion signs will be signposted.
