ALTON is "top of the settlement hierarchy" and looks set to take the majority of development scheduled for East Hampshire to the year 2028.

Classified as part of the Central Hampshire area, Government pressure dictates that 4,400 homes should be built in East Hampshire between 2006 and 2028, and some of it on greenfield land.
