HASLEMERE Town Council celebrated the launch of Armed Forces Week last Monday by raising the flag.
Town mayor David Round said: “I am honoured to take this opportunity to pledge the support of all of us in Haslemere for our Armed Forces and their families.
“The flag states ‘Give us your support’ and that is what we will do.”
Waverley Borough Council showed its appreciation by raising the Armed Forces Day flag in front of the Mayor of Waverley, Denise Le Gal, Deputy Mayor, Mary Foryszewski, Waverley leader Julia Potts and fellow councillors, together with borough council staff.
Andrew Smith, head of strategic housing and Lay Minister at King’s Church, Chessington led a short service before the flag was raised by Colour Sergeant Marcos Morley and Private Alfie Foskett representing the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment.
