TOWN councillors have answered appeals for help by residents of WhitehillÕs Redhouse and Sunshine mobile home parks by agreeing to visit the site again.

And this time councillors want to take a district council officer with them so that they too can look into the problems faced by residents of the Hogmoor Road park.

The decision to revisit the park came at MondayÕs meeting of Whitehill Town CouncilÕs planning and amenities committee, after six concerned residents had issued a plea for help at the full council meeting in July.

Spokesman for the residents David Blake claimed at the meeting that since new owner Michael Wenham took over the running of the park last April things had changed - and not for the better.

Mr Blake said that 50 families had quit the park since last year and that the site was not safe.

The claims came after a fire destroyed one of the parkÕs mobile homes, leaving a family of five homeless.

As previously reported, police confirmed that the fire was being treated as suspicious, as it was started in three places by what was thought to be petrol.

Town clerk Linda Tiley told members on Monday that town councillors had visited the park last year, but deputy mayor Chris Wain saidthe residents were very much under the impression that nobody had visited.

But Mrs Tiley said she understood that the resident who members spoke to last year had since left the park.

Neil Ockenden said he was sure that any help the town council could give to the residents would be gratefully received.

Monday, September 9 was suggested as a possible date to visit the site and the town council will now write to EHDC to ask if an officer would be available to attend the visit.
